New Functions in HALion String Edition 2
Sound Library
The HALion String Edition Sound Library has been lavishly extended. Version 2 now features a 9-GB wellspring of rich sonic resources, arranged in more than 750 different sound programs. What’s more, the new-and-improved version offers new top-drawer solo strings with every conceivable articulation, perfectly complementing Volume 1’s ensemble strings. The entire content of HALion String Edition Vol.1 has been revamped from the bottom up and optimized. And with the advanced new categorization system that lets you filter searches according to instruments and playing techniques, browsing the library is a pleasure rather than a pain.
Real Ambience
With the hip new Real Ambience feature, you can add the amazingly authentic resonance of a concert hall to the string sounds in HALion whenever you wish. The effect is so very realistic because it is actually the natural 3D sound of the concert hall in which the strings were recorded rather than synthetic computed reverb. For yet another technical advance that yields emotional returns, you can freely adjust the amount of room (Ambience Level) and shape its perceived size (Ambience Time).
Q-Controls
Every program now features eight rotary knobs that afford you direct control over the given sound’s vital parameters. A MIDI Learn function is also on offer; it lets you readily assign Q controls to a MIDI controller and conveniently manipulate them using an external hardware controller.
RAMSave™
With the benefit of RAMSave™, a process Steinberg had premiered in the software sampler HALion 3, you can make very efficient use of the host computer’s RAM. When RAMSaveTM is enabled, superfluous samples are automatically dumped from the main memory. That way, more RAM is available for other tasks, and projects are loaded and saved so much faster. RAMSaveTM automatically scans the MIDI notes, dumping all samples that are not assigned to any of these notes.
Enhanced Disk Streaming
Taking Vol.1 another step up the performance ladder, Vol.2’s disk streaming has been further improved to deliver ultra fast buffer times as speedy as 0.1 seconds, ensuring lowest memory loads and stable streaming performance.
Compatibility
HALion String Edition 2 now supports all standard plug-in formats such as VST, DXi, AU and Rewire and integrates smoothly and seamlessly into every professional host application. What’s more, the standalone version now supports multiple outputs.
