November 16, 2011 - Keyboardist Scott Plunkett has been working in the industry for over three decades. Since the early ‘80s Scott has toured with high-profile artists the likes of Stevie Nicks, Don Henley and Chris Isaak, as well as music-directing tours for Chicago’s Peter Cetera and Boz Scaggs. Scott also designs sound patches for Yamaha and Steinberg.
Miitri Aaltonen on the Finnish metal scene
September 2, 2011 - Miitri Aaltonen has turned his passion for the Finnish metal scene into a career path. For his efforts, Aaltonen has already been nominated three times for the Finnish EMMA Award. He is a founding member of hard rock band Monsteriser and has also worked with bands like Mokoma, Stam1na, Viikate and Kotiteollisuus, all of whom have gold-album sales to show for their success.

July 6, 2011 - Musician and writer Julian Colbeck founded Keyfax NewMedia in 1990, which specializes in products and services based around music production. In the past two decades, Keyfax has created several eminently popular products, such the Phat Boy MIDI controller, as well as producing more than 20 DVD titles. Colbeck’s latest project is Alan Parsons’ Art & Science of Sound Recording, a video series presented by multi-platinum producer Alan Parsons.

December 15, 2010 - Scoring well over 100 films, Hans Zimmer has been awarded with two Golden Globes, one Oscar and three Grammy’s as well as counting an array of nominations. Last week Zimmer was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, while two weeks ago, he was nominated for Inception and Sherlock Holmes in the category Best Score Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture at next year’s Grammy Awards, slated for February.

Over the years he has worked with Europe’s leading classical musicians and orchestras, including Vienna, Bratislava and Moscow. For one of his latest projects, the Formula 1 video game soundtrack, Ian set up his workplace at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. In the interview with Steinberg, he tells us how he fell in love with the well-oiled Abbey Road machine and why he has always been a keen user of Cubase, Nuendo and CC121.

With the debut album Caught in a Life selling 120,000 times in Norway alone since the release in October of last year, Donkeyboy are now emerging to wider acclaim through the album's release in the UK and other European countries. Climbing steadily the European charts, Donkeyboy is possibly the greatest Norwegian export since A-ha and Röyksopp, so keep an eye out for these young songwriters!
Nuendo 5 Scores Big in Las Vegas

John McClain’s Dog & Pony Studios are located right in the middle of this vibrant city, and since 2003 John was involved in many award-winning productions, from movies to interactive games. Most recently, he worked on the upcoming blockbuster Haywire by Steven Soderbergh, starring Michael Douglas. In the interview he tells us more about this project and future plans.
Annihilator Amid Heavy Touring

April 9, 2010 - The war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the mid-’90s not only cost 100,000 lives but also shattered a thriving music scene. Under the patronage of Billy Gould, bassist for the US band Faith No More, the cultural organization ALTER ART provides unique support to the country’s music culture since 1998. At the start of 2010 a sound studio was opened thanks to international donations. Here young bands now may record their music free of charge on a new Cubase system.

Scoring in Cubase with Guy Cuyvers
January 29, 2010 - Belgian composer Guy Cuyvers has lately been basking in the limelight after being commissioned to compose the score for the sequel of Laura’s Star (the original title is Lauras Stern), a German-Chinese animated feature based on the popular children's book by Klaus Baumgart. Cuyvers is treading in the footsteps of multi-award-winning composer Hans Zimmer who wrote the score for the first film. Both film score composers are avid Cubase users. Coincidence? We think not.

July 31, 2009 - The man behind Zombie Nation, Cubase user Florian Senfter, is also known under further guises such as John Starlight and Splank! Way back in the ’90s, Senfter propelled himself into the spotlight of the electronic dance scene, landing a smash hit with "Kernkraft 400". Zombie Nation, meanwhile, has evolved to become one of the most famed German techno acts around, having recently released his fourth album Zombielicious.
Powerwolf on the Prowl
July 17, 2009 - The German-Romanian band Powerwolf released their third album Bible of the Beast at the end of April. The long player was not only critically acclaimed by the press but also their first album to find its way into the German charts. Obviously this was a good reason for Steinberg to interview guitarists Charles and Matthew Greywolf, two long-time Cubase aficionados.
Erran Baron Cohen Scores Brüno with Cubase
July 9, 2009 - Erran Baron Cohen, producer, film score composer and founding member of ZOHAR, is best known for his scoring of the TV series Da Ali G Show and the movie sensation Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Now in 2009, Erran is back with the score to Brüno, the new movie by his brother Sacha. Steinberg took the opportunity to ask the long-time Cubase user a few questions.
