FireWire 800 ports we see today on newer Apple Mac computers are fully compatible with FireWire 400 products using 9-pin to 6-pin FireWire 800/400 cables or adapters according to the technical standard by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

We find no technical issues so far between our FireWire products and Apple Mac computers which only have FireWire 800 ports on board using the following cables and adapter:

9-pin to 6-pin FireWire 800/400 cables*:

• SANWA IEEE1394b Cable KE-B961W(9pin-6pin)1.8 m / 4.2 m
• Belkin 6' FireWire 800/400 9pin to 6pin Cable 1.8 m / 4.2 m

9-pin to 6-pin FireWire 800/400 adapter*:

• Sonnet FW400 to 800 Adapter

Please note that you can also use other cables or adapters as long as they apply to the technical standard from IEEE.
