Steinberg is happy to announce that the renowned Austria-based Vienna Symphonic Library is the first third-party software company to release VST Expression Maps for its VSL Special Edition and VSL Special Edition Plus orchestra libraries. Further leading sample content and instrument manufacturers have committed to support the VST Expression technology initially introduced in the fifth version of Cubase.

VST Expression is a new system that dramatically simplifies composing with large sample libraries within Cubase, streamlining the way today’s massive virtual orchestras and highly detailed instrument libraries are used in the context of creative composition for scores and songs. Thanks to VST Expression, the different playing techniques can be specified directly in the Key and Score Editors — without having to switch those using controllers. The Expression Maps from VSL are assigned to samples of the VSL libraries, loading the right sounds automatically.
