Softube & NuGen count on VST 3

An increasing number of plug-in manufacturers rely on Steinberg’s groundbreaking VST 3 interface technology. The latest members joining the VST 3 family are the Swedish manufacturer Softube and the UK-based vendor NuGen Audio.

"We’re very happy to welcome Softube and NuGen Audio to the VST 3 platform. A new period starts for the customers of both companies, who are now able to experience the extensive benefits of VST 3," comments Timo Wildenhain, product marketing manager at Steinberg.

VST 3 provides innovative technologies for modern plug-in development, such as sidechain support, advanced automation possibilities and sample-accurate parameter control.

"We see VST 3 as a big step forward in enhancing the user experience for our customers, who we know especially appreciate the seamless support for external sidechaining and improved CPU efficiency," remarks Oscar Öberg, president of Softube.

The company is currently upgrading all their plug-ins to VST 3, which will be finished until end of April. The first upgraded product is the award-winning Tube Tech CL 1B, which is already available in a VST 3 version at the Softube website.

"VST 3 offers a number of promising opportunities for us in terms of I/O routing and sidechain flexibility. We are also looking forward to the significant CPU saving enhancements and advanced automation possibilities offered by the format, which will be of great benefit to our power users," comments Jon Schorah of NuGen Audio.

His company has started to convert the Stereopack and Loudness metering solutions into VST 3 format and will be rolling out VST 3 to the rest of the range in the coming months.
