ID Control offers a range of innovative functions not found in other products of its type. The dual-purpose, touch sensitive function system allows keys such as the Solo and mute buttons to function either as buttons or switches. If a key is pressed longer than 200ms, the key is engaged as a button that activates the function only as long as the key pressed; pressing the key for less than this time interval uses the key as a switch, toggling its state. The intuitive Reverse mode allows the integrated keyboard to be used for functions such as track arming, solo or mute for channels 1 to 96, including optical controls. The stunningly effective Expand function instantly lays all channels belonging to a group on consecutive faders on the mixing surface, regardless of where they are located ion the Nuendo project itself.

ID-Mix Controller

WK-AUDIO has extended its line of ID products with another specialized controller for Nuendo 4 called ID-MIX. Designed with users’ feedback and wishes in mind, ID-MIX is very closely modeled on the flagship product ID. Because the focus of ID-MIX is on mixing, it ships without an elaborate editor.

ID-MIX bases on the same fader module used in the ID console, which features twelve motorized, touch-sensitive faders, each equipped with a two-line LCD display for the track name and module status. It offers another twelve encoders, each with a two-line LCD display and a control range indicator, that may also be used as auxiliary channel level knobs. A FLIP function swaps assignments with the faders below. This affords users direct access to 24 level controls. In Local mode, these controls also serve to edit equalizer, aux, and studio bus parameters, and control plug-ins. With the page function, users can thus control up to 1,188 parameters. In Global mode, select functions such as gain trim, pan, or an aux bus may be controlled globally for all channels.

All tracks may be sorted in module classes. EXPAND, a function borrowed from the ID Controller, provides a side-by-side view of the signal busses connected to a given group. This allows users to manage more than 100 signal busses easily and conveniently with a remarkably compact controller unit measuring just 72 x 50 cm.

Any mix controller designed specifically to mix in Nuendo must of course feature dedicated buttons for the Nuendo 4 automation system (different automation modes, preview, and fill options). The transport panel is richly appointed with a jog wheel and 21 buttons serving to control markers and events.

What’s more, ASCII key commands afford direct access to up to 40 more functions. ID-MIX also comes with ID’s proven Control Room monitor section featuring an in/out matrix as well as Surround reduction buttons.
An optional high-quality motor joystick may also be integrated.

EDIT Controller by WK Audio

EDIT is the new hardware controller from WK Audio, designed for Steinberg’s Nuendo Media Production System. EDIT is the ideal solution for Nuendo users who require a compact, professional control surface focused on edit work and multitrack recording, rather than a complete mixing desk. Derived from the popular ID Controller, EDIT shares an almost identical layout and construction with its larger brother but differs in that the individual function areas are optimized for editing and working with tracks.

As also found on the ID, there is an extensive range of keys with LED indicators and track numbers to directly select Channels or Tracks numbered 1-48 or 49-96 for important functions such as CUT, SOLO or RECORD. These keys can also be used as a PC keyboard, and the EDIT Controller even includes an IP65-standard trackball.

Not only can frequently-used Nuendo functions be accessed directly via the Edit Command buttons, but there are also a large number of freely-assignable keys which are ideal for use together with user-definable Nuendo Key Commands.

The weighted 60mm dial can be used for Jog, Shuttle and Scrub, as well as for diverse editing functions such as working with Trims, Fades and Zooms. In addition, extra keys to position and zoom events in the Nuendo project window are conveniently positioned directly around the dial.

The integration of the Control Room Monitor section is also exemplary, with reduction keys for Mono/Stereo, Front/Rear, LFE and L-R, meaning that the corresponding features in the Nuendo Master section are addressed directly.
