It sounds as good as anything I've come across, and the way it integrates with Cubase 5 is unbelievable — it really is like having your whole studio inside the box at last. The first impression was very positive right away. After installing the drivers it was plug-and-play all the way. I also noticed the great quality of the converters right from the start. For instance, recording drums sounds very crisp and punchy. I definitely like the high-impedance Hi-Z input. I work quite a bit with guitar re-amping so that I can connect my guitar directly to the MR816 without using any additional pres and DI boxes — the recorded signal is processed perfectly by my amp-simulations plug-ins and re-amping box from Radial. And, now that the headphones volume level works independently from the master since running the last update, even my last point of criticism has been set aside.

I bought my MR816 CSX because I needed to have a high-quality mobile interface to use with Nuendo in the studio and on tour. I was staggered by the quality of the convertors and mike pre-amps. I've found it both musical and transparent and it has been totally reliable. I use it live with my Wishing Tree project to play back loops and samples and it has proved invaluable.
