Integrating External Hardware
External effect processors and MIDI sound generators may be integrated directly into Nuendo and used as plug-ins. All you have to do is set up the external devices once by selecting the physical I/0s and assigning names. Then the external devices will appear in all plug-in and VST instrument selection menus and you may use the immediately. Best of all, Nuendo features automatic latency compensation to make up for the delay produced by the hardware’s AD/DA converters.
This lets you switch external devices’ presets remotely from Nuendo, and even edit individual parameters on the devices via freely definable graphic controls within Nuendo. Preprogrammed panels are available for many devices and can be imported directly. This also goes for VST Mixer Maps derived from older Cubase versions. What’s more, you can create individual control panels using an editor offering an extensive tool set. These panels may even be integrated directly into the Track Inspector and the mixer channel strip, thereby granting you direct access to frequently used parameters.
Nuendo also supports Yamaha’s Studio Connections standard. Studio Connections is an innovative technology that links Steinberg's software with mixers, instruments and effects offered by Yamaha and third-party vendors. Serving to integrate and handle external devices, it features Total Recall: When you open a Nuendo project, the entire studio’s settings are restored.
