Can I have Cubase AI 6 (or Cubase7) in two computers?

Can I have Cubase AI 6 (or Cubase7) in two computers?

Postby distante » Fri Dec 28, 2012 10:44 pm

First of all, Sorry for post here, I wasn't able to create a topic in the Cubase 7 or Cubase AI section.

Well, I just got my UR824 and with it the Cubase AI 6 software, and the plugins that comes with it. (Also I will buy Cubase 7 after the new year).

So, I worked before with Nuendo in a recording studio but this is the first time I have a steinberg software of my own so I don't quite know somethings regarding the use of it. Like

Can I install Cubase AI 6 in my Laptop and my Desktop PC?

I will had the same question regarding the Cubase 7, but I Think since it works with an iLok, I only need to put my iLok and that will be all.

I need to be able to open my Cubase projects in my Desktop and Laptop because I'm putting together a little project studio that isn't in my house, so, sometimes I will need to check the projects that I'm working on.

Also, I want to do some "in situ" recording, like going to a band's gig and recording the live concert in my laptop to later finish it in the studio.

So, It's possible to had all the softwares(Daw and the REV-X and Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip) I bought in my two computers?

Thank you

If you are using a Soft-eLicenser you are only allowed to use it on one computer. If you use the USB-eLicenser you can use the software on both by inserting the dongle into the computer you wish to use at that time.

In your position, I think you should purchase a USB-eLicenser (not iLok) now so you can use AI 6 on both computers. Then, when you decide to upgrade to Cubase 7 you will already have the dongle purchased and be able to get an AI 6 -> Cubase 7 upgrade at a discounted price.

Sorry! USB-eLicenser!

So would be better to not install any software until I get the USB-eLicenser and make the upgrade to C7!

well I had a trial version of C6.5 that I got in the store. Maybe I can use the UR824 with it just to get the feeling of use it

Thanks

Are you saying you haven't installed AI 6 yet? If that is indeed the case, go ahead and install it with the Soft-eLicenser on the computer you think you will use it the most on until you get a USB-eLicenser. You can transfer licenses from "Soft" to "USB" but not the other way around. Then, once you get your AI 6 licence on the USB you can install and use it on the other computer as well.

I'm not familiar with the bundled plug-ins you are referring to. Do they require an authorization code to be entered in the eLicense Control Center? If so, you should be able to transfer them the same way.

Good luck, then!

Once you get everything installed and activated/registered you should be able to post in the relevant forums for your products.

Then, once you get your AI 6 licence on the USB you can install and use it on the other computer as well.

If you were given a USB eLicenser from a music store, if you have paid for it, you can download your AI license to it directly.
