OK guys ... bear with me ... I'm almost crying with excitement here .....
I have (and don't laugh too hard!) used Cubase VST 5.1 for ..er... a lot of years to produce music for theatre shows .... and I have a library of at least a few hundred songs and SFX that I have made .....
Well I decided that it was time to bite the bullet and get some new software .... but my problem was that obviously I couldn't import a VST 5.1 song into a current version of Cubase.... meaning that I had years of work that I maybe couldn't use again .... you can guess what that feels like.....?
I was looking through the Cubase 4/5 forum and nearly died when I saw the 'VST Song import into Cubase 4/5: a solution' post in the Announcements box.
Now I'm well out of date with how all this license stuff works but the post talks about being able to download a version of Cubase 3 to convert the Cubase VST format songs to a format that could be used in (as I understand it) later version of Cubase. I have the blue USB dongle for my copy of Cubase VST .... can I use that?....... and is it legal?......!!
Now I'm thinking of buying Cubase Artist 7 to replace Cubase VST to run on a Windows 7 32 bit PC......
So what I'd really appreciate help with is .... has any of you guys downloaded a Cubase 3 version from the link in the post and did it work ?... and what is the situation regarding needing a license for the Cubase 3 version .... and if I was to download Cubase 3, would it convert Cubase VST files into a format that could be used in Cubase 7 Artist.....?
I'm sure you can appreciate how much I want to be able to use the songs I've created in Cubase VST again ... years of work that I can't use again (that makes me want to cry....) so any help or advice on this would be really really appreciated ...........!!!!!!!!!!
Happy New Year everyone!!!!! .....
