Cubase 5.1 and Faderport

Hi there , i just get faderport with footpedal and cubase 5.1 in my office but i can't make footpedal to work.
I have selected Mackie HUI ,the fadeport console seems to work but my footpedal still doesn't. I actually only need the footpedal as my work is to hear a .wav and write it down in a .doc So i only need the footpedal to pause .wav and then continue play it.
