I'm a cubase SX 1-2-3 dongled owner, and because of some health problems, everything was slowed down, or stopped, even music, my #1 passion, until now. But I decided this 2013 would be different, I try to motivate myself so, in a few months, I can be touching my midi keyboard again.
I will get cubase 7, meanwhile, I've been watching askvideo tutorials(excellent, by the way.I'm watching cubase 7 news, but there are hundreds of hours with cubase 6 and its different levels + tips + etc I will watch, so I'm ready for cubase 7, when I buy it). I don't work for them, but really, for about 25$ for a month, its really a pleasure to be able to watch it, on a tablet(android,in my case), while laying on a couch, or bed. Perfect.
I also would like to thank Steinberg and the engineers who gave a second life to my midex8 unit. It was in a box for years, since it could only work on XP. Thanks to the new drivers, it will work again, on windows 7.
Sorry for the big intro and presentation. Since I have no product registered on Steinberg.net, I think I can only post here.
I like learning, and my curiosity often makes me ask questions about features, why it works like that, and many times I think about things that could be done, and how cool and useful they would be, if they existed. That's why I will certainly have 'many' questions. I will always search on the forum for answers, but if I don't find anything, I will ask. Hope the moderators will be cool
And if I can answer and help people, with my little knowledge, I will do it.
Enough said, here is my first question. Hope I won't be banned if I don't make the new thread in the good place
Q: I used to have dual monitors, with cubase. Today, monitors, even 24", cost almost nothing.I am thinking of getting a 3rd 1920x1080 monitor, to my future setup. The idea is having the tracks lane on the left monitor, the second one would display the plugins or vst and the audio/midi editor, and the third monitor would be used solely with the mixconsole.
I read cubase 7 can make a better use of the monitors, we can maximize windows, etc, which looks great.
So, is it possible to have the cubase main top menu, on the center monitor(the second one)?
3 24" monitors, side by side occupy a nice big amount of space, and having the menus on the left, with the 3 monitors maximized, would be a bit painful. Since you are always using the menu and the tools, it would be great if they could be on the 2nd monitor, just in front of the eyes and head. Is it possible?
And admitting I have 2. 27" monitors side by side, which both have a 2560x1440 resolution, and I use a third monitor, which can only do 1920x1080, and I use it above the 2, like a pyramid. Windows can let us do it, when we have several monitors, by dragging them, I could do it at work, even on windows xp. With that 'pyramidal' setup, how will cubase 7 display, if we maximize the main window? Since its supposed to use all the available space when maximized, I wonder how it will be displayed.
Instead of 3 24", I thought about using 2 2560x1440 monitors, side by side, and above them, I would put anything that can do full HD resolution, to have the mix console displayed there.even a 20" would be fine, as long as it can have full HD.
Hope you understand what I want.
Again, sorry for the big intro, and thanks for your replies.
