Bit the bullet and bought C7

Bit the bullet and bought C7

Postby skug » Sun Feb 17, 2013 3:06 am

I finally decided to purchase Cubase 7 without fear, backed by a name synonymous with the audio industry and one that I feel I can put to my business.

Just a few questions while I am waiting for it to arrive.

- I remember in SX3 you could not select two adjacent notes and adjust their lengths simultaneously, is this possible in C7?

I don't believe it changed in C5 when I had my trial and I've not bothered with a C6 trial because C7 was so quick to market.

Anyway I am looking forward to this new version because of the Chord Track but if Steinberg are going to improve MIDI functionality (which all my clients use) then surely it must be made easier to work with the data since if you cut a note in the wrong place and manually move the beginnings/ends of adjacent notes, changes in the ADSR of sounds are ever so slight as to be noticeable and when programming a song from scratch this would be a major help without so much as to rely on chance (or undo).

I'm guessing it would be implemented as a modifier but it would also be a great time saver.

Unless I´m misunderstanding: This is possible in C5 and I´m almost certain it was possible in SX3 also and of course it´s still possible in C7.

Hi,

By "adjacent" I mean two notes, one after the other (or even more but it might be complex to implement if the "cuts" are in different places).

Thanks

Like Thinkingcap said, we're probably misunderstanding because you can simply select any number of notes and drag their sizes to the desired length simultaneously.
Software: Steinberg Cubase Artist 6.5.2 64-bit.
Hardware: HP elitebook 8530b with W7 Home 64-bit
Terratec Producer PHASE X24fw - Steinberg Midex 8 - Steinberg CC121.
Analog: Mackie 802VLZ3 - Alesis M1 - Behringer Powerplay Pro-XL - Studio Projects C3
Instruments: Yamaha DTX750k - Yamaha MO-6 - Waldorf Blofeld.
3rd party plugins: Native Instruments Prism - BFD ECO - Arturia MinimoogV - Rob Papen Distort - Rob Papen Delay - Blue Cat Audio Free pack - Stillwell Major Tom - JSAudio CompShaper - Some more free stuff that gets little use.

My humble contributions to what could be considered music.

I have uploaded a picture since I explained the situation incorrectly.

Sorry, I'm still not sure what you are trying to do. You want to adjust the start or end position of the 2 selected notes simultaneously, but dragging the start or end of one of the 2 notes is not what you are looking for. :?

well im not sure if this what u mean but.
you cant take the ending point of one note and the starting of other note and change them in one mouse move.(like comping tool can do with audio events )
there is a feature request for this in C7 sub forums, its Buried there somewhere. :ugeek:

Edit: in this image example we should have a tool with key modifier to move those 2 points marked in cycle in one move.(ending of note 1 and starting of note 2)

Ah, sorry for my reading inability :p
No, I don't think it'll let you do that yet.
