Hello, upgrading to Cubase 7 from Cubase SX3 and want to spec out a new machine today. Can't post in PreSales for Cubase7 (had hoped for a greater number of current Cubase version users to see this and comment, but oh well):
I'm going to build a machine a wondered where I can find a list of systems and components known to work with Cubase. Even better would be for combinations of apps, like I'll be using Cubase7 with Waves plugins and East-West sounds Orchestral PLAY plus various apps from Spectrasonics. The entire VST as well as hardware landscape has changed since I built my last over-powered DAW in 2005 and bought Cubase3 and Kontakt2 at the time
For example, I'd really like to know if Cubase (and other apps) now are written to use all the cores available? I'm pondering using a Gigabyte mobo GA-277x-UDSH Core i7 with Intel Core i7-3770K 4cores/8threads but wondered if for example it'd be worth the $$ to move up one notch to the i7 that has 6cores/12threads - if Cubase and other apps would benefit from the additional cores/threads I might do it, but definitely not if there's no noticeable bang for the buck.
Also, in terms of building a quiet machine, the models of power supply and cases specifically designed for good cooling with low noise seem to have changed - any page that lists known good and reliable quiet power supplies and cases and case fans for DAW's ?
Of course, I waited until my old one died so now need to scramble to build quick - any help at all greatly appreciated!
