Hello, scrambling to build a new DAW in a hurry and the landscape for the audio interface has changed - I had an MAudio Delta 44 in first DAW then an MAudio Delta1010 in DAW that just died (going back to 2005) but now it seems the trend has been away from using a PCI slot card with breakout box in favor of USB - is that right?
M-Audio also had some sort of limitation now that I can't recall - something about ASIO drivers unable to do two things at once, where some other products could. Is that still an issue? What would be a nice current equivalent to a Delta 1010 from 8 years ago? Do breakout devices even do MIDI interfaces anymore? The last two MIDI controllers I bought were designed to use USB and then I had to install yet another (finicky) driver for them, rather than just plugging them in via MIDI connection to the DELTA 1010 ....
Asking in here because Cubase 7 (upgrading from SX3) will be my sequencer and I'd like recommendations from people that currently use their interface of choice with current-era Cubase versioned DAWs
Thanks!
-Steve
