I guess the eLicenser is down - I too, am a new user with the latest Control Center software having EXACTLY the same issues as the above posters ( kohlhtor and Danimal ) today!

Clearly my internet connection is fine - otherwise I could not post this!

Hopefully it will work soon.....

Man Im glad someone else posted about this. Unbelievable. Ive lost 3 hours of my life trying to figure this out. I hope its just the server. You would think that the company could give a definitive error response whether the server is actually down or its my connection.

this is ridiculous. The implementation of almost every aspect of the website and elicense, registration, mysteinberg account setup, forum profile setup??? wtffffff ... its as if it was created by someone in the early 90s

And the cherry on top is the friggin error message "steinberg registration error could not be parsed as XML"

please just kill me already,,, Now I see hundreds of people with the same problem here ...these are your customers BTW

I did call the "Gerrys" they said they`ve got problems... :mrgreen: I said R You really??? Not kidding.... :twisted:
they asked me about NET.framework is up to date??? I said of course YES :ugeek:
they asked me about eLcc is up to date??? of course it is as well........... :ugeek:

anyhow... now as around noon time (1/11/13) I was able to be done with those things..... : :roll:

on the end of the day >>> mainly there is no trouble on your side as pc/mac and internet connection ect.ect....
It is kind of straight up that eLcc servers are could go "*hits* up"... It is ridiculous but this is how it is...

Tried it at 2:30am this morning and it's as if somebody in the Steinberg IT department plugged their server back in.
It worked!
OK... maybe it "really" was server maintenance. :?

Anyway, like many other folks, I sure wish they would implement something other than this ridiculous USB Dongle eLC nightmare to simply install and use the software we buy when we want to... not at the mercy of their server.

.... and don't get me started about how *quiz* i am that i have to give up one of only TWO usb ports on my laptop to occupy the stupid dongle!

Just an update, I did receive a reply from Steinberg Support US the next day (yesterday) and have now received my license activation code.

The delay cost me a recording session but at least there was a fairly quick response. Hopefully this issue will be resolved for future customers and activations as the whole process was fairly time-consuming and frustrating.

It's still down as of January 21st. No idea what the issue is. I won't be recommending any Steinberg-based products or programs using the e-licenser to any other studios or students.

Yup down for me - fails at step 6.

I wouldn't mind I reinstall my computer a month ago with the then latest version no problem. Today win7 was pestering me to update the "smart card software" and I get this absolute BS when performing maintenance tasks.

Sounds like someone screwed up big time. FIX IT!

Same issue here - not able to connect to licensing server to download purchased product licences (Steinberg and Arturia products). Same connection issue exists when running the maintenance update. :evil:

Just got my copy of Cubase in the mail and I can't download my license.

Its really exciting to be an honest consumer and get the shaft.

Having the same issue....bought the dongle for the trial version, but so far no luck. I really wish these dongles would go away, also not a fan of iLok.

It should let you use the 24 hour license unless it wont even allow you that.

I'm new on this forum, just bought C7, and I also tried everything during the last 2 days ( spent about 6 hours on that !), but i can't download my license on my USB-eliecenser ( i got the server problem message ).
I'll wait and try again and again, i gess there is no other solutions... :|

eLCC server seems to be down. …once again.
Cannot activate my C7 upgrade.
But the weather is fantastic here in Stockholm today, so when the sun sets, i´ll give it a new try.

I have exactly same issue. Have bought Cubase Artist 7 today and wanted to elaborate with it during weekend. Seems to not be possible... :(

Ah, such a dissapointment! Earlier today I had problems activating my legally bought windows 7, and now I can't activate my legally bought cubase 7 upgrade. Thought everything would be hassle free when you buy the software, but I guess not..
