Hi, how do I fade in or fade out an entire mix?

Fading out an entire mix can be done in two ways:
- Fading each event individually by using the top fade handles.
- Mixdown your song, open it as audio file in a new project and fade the resulting event in / out.

Thank you. Assuming I mix down a song and apply compression and other effects, when I use this version in a new project and do a fade out, I guess I wouldn't apply any master effects, correct?
