Compression on mixdown question.

I have a song that fades out at the end. If I apply compression to the mix, the fade out part doesn't fade out properly; i guess the volume is raised at the tail end. Anyway, what parameter(s) should I adjust on the compressor to not have this problem?

Okay, I think I got it figured out. i lowered the release in the compression settings. that seemed to do the trick.
