Re: So 7.5 is here (almost)

All of this socialist banter about greed and paid .5 versions is tiring.

The name of the version is semantics. If they called it Cubase 8 what argument would be used then?

The "greed" of someone wanting to be paid more for their product is no worse than the "greed" of someone else who wants to pay less for that product.

Greed is socialism? Right.

Re: So 7.5 is here (almost)

Surprised nobody's bringing up the hiding of channels in the arrange, that's the number one workflow feature for me, and much requested. Also if youre scoring, bridging the gap between instrument tracks and the instrument rack is great.

I brought it up in my previous post, yes it is AMAZING, been waiting for this since.. 2005??

the scrolling through hundreds of tracks (many, many empty template tracks too )was a nightmare, folders and workspaces never did much for me.
This is THE update. Sadly I need to wait for the Nuendo update though, since I´m not on Cubase.
Seriously Cubase should be a free alternative license for Nuendo users anyway, don´t see why this is not happening.
Opening Cubase with a Nuendo licence should be standard.

Re: So 7.5 is here (almost)

It’s the same thing every time an update is announced…

Compiled *witch* List

1. It should be free… free.. free.. free… I want it to be free… Everything should be free… free… free… Everything except me because, well, because…
2. I hate these new features…. hate… hate… hate… hate these new features… I’ll never use them and they suck anyway event though I’ve never used them and don’t know a thing about them…
3. I want the old mixer back… Give me the old mixer… Give me the old mixer… I hate the new mixer… hate… hate… hate…
4. There should be 500 different versions of Cubase… No, 1000 versions, no 100,000 versions. One made specially for me… me… me… me…
5. Cubase sucks and I hate so I’m switching to Reaper/Pro Tools/Logic/Garage Band/MS Word… Until next week when I download the update because I hate Reaper/Pro Tools/Logic/Garage Band/MS Word…
6. All software except Cubase is perfect… perfect… perfect… perfect… It all works exactly perfectly… It even works when I’m not using it… And its free free free… And I have my own version of it that they gave me for free… And did I mention its perfect?

Steinberg does a damn fine job of building ridiculously complex software which sells at a ridiculously low price.

Re: Tips Tricks And Workflow Goodness.

this one isn't too known i guess: to replace all instances of an audio event in a project (akin to exchanging a sample in a sampler), put your replacement sample in the pool, the drag it from the pool whist holding shift, and drop it onto the event to be replaced.

Re: 7.5 at Last!

f.e wrote:So guys, how is it going ?

What about :
- video files reading ?
- 3rd party plugins ?
- old projects ?
- cpu load ?

Everything seems fine so far. It will prpbably take a while to properly evaluate things like CPU and ASIO perforance, but it seems to be working very well.

Re: 7.5 at Last!

why is every thing eating my ram ........
Because it tastes so good. :)

I'm wondering. Does the HALion Sonic SE content disc/download that comes with v7.5 contain everything that was included in the one that accompanied 7.0? I.e. do I need to keep it handy, in case a reinstall becomes necessary, or can I file it away in the furthest reaches of the cupboard (where old installer discs usually end up)?

Re: Track Instruments vs. Rack Instruments in Cubase 7.5

One track - one task - one instrument. It's simple and clear, especially for organisation and mixing. I'm using Kontakt too, but one instance for every track. That could make 20 or more Kontakt instances per project. Each additional Kontakt instance has a footprint of only 32 MB (!). And this way you can use the Kontakt multi instruments for easy sound layering.

Keep up with the times!

What if you want to load a Kontakt Multi that has 64 orchestral patches all ready to go for a particular type of project? It would be ridiculous to have to spend half a day setting this up in Cubase as 64 separate Instrument Tracks.

Use your head!

Re: fine tuning automation points with shift

I would also be OK if you could write automation while not playing.
i.e get to the spot, move the fader (or ctrl-click to zero it) and it would be written, instead of jumping back.

Re: My "Pultec-like" colors for Cubase. Do you like it?

What are Pultec colors? I also didn't notice much variation from the original Cubase colors.

Re: Film composer workflow for delivering quicktime videos?

Sending just a stereo mix can be a bad idea depending on the director. Mainly to make sure that start time is correct (a few frames of can screw up a whole cue). Also, when you have lots of dialog the relative volumen is very important and if not set right can get you unnecessary revisions.

I think i's better to send both videos and stereo mixes unless you really trust the director (and he trusts you as well!).

The issues I discribed in the first post have been corrected and are no longer here in version 8.0.5.

Thanks steinberg. Now it feels better :D

Re: Still no bezier curves in automation!!!!!

Pro Tools has also no bezier curves (!)
Pro Tools is industry standard.

So all is fine with Cubendo.
