A short update on this topic: This is no vaporware, we are still working on this! Truth be told, the reason for the delays is that the Android platform has provided us constant headaches and tripping hazards and it is not as straight-forward as iOS. However, we involved several forum users in our beta tests and we have now a release candidate we are working on to stabilise it to give you a great controller experience.
Cubasis 1.7.1 is available now. This is a maintenance update that targets user reported problems. Here is the list of the improvements and solved problems.
CB-1284 Start button added to the mixdown popup CB-1431 Solves a rare issue where triggering MIDI notes frequently on an instrument assigned via Core MIDI lead to hanging notes. CB-1432 Fixes a rare phenomenon where MIDI port list popups appeared continuously. CB-1433 Solves an issue where the attack and release values were reseted to their defaults when switching between projects. CB-1434 Solves a rare problem where executing a mixdown of a project that contained IAA instruments lead to oversized audio files. CB-596 Moving the pan fader while playback is running no longer leads to audio dropouts. CB-1425 Executing a FLAC mixdown of the same project no longer overwrites the previous audio file without notice. CB-1430 IAA audio file naming has been corrected to allow projects to be imported in Cubase without the need to locate IAA audio files manually. CB-1294 MIDI events with a huge number of notes no longer renders Cubasis unreliable. CB-1412 Corrects an issue where a wrong instrument was highlighted in the Media Bay after an instrument was changed in Microsonic. CB-1414 The effect status in the inspector now gets updated correctly by tapping its edit button. CB-1417 Fixes a rare phenomenon where switching instruments while playing could lead to hanging notes. CB-1418 Solves the issue where tapping the panic button did not reset hanging notes of an IAA instrument app. CB-1410 Switching projects quickly that contain IAA instruments no longer renders Cubasis unreliable. CB-1279 The playable keyboard range now updates correctly after an instrument is changed.
We are pleased to announce the release of Cubase iC Pro for Android! The installation procedure is different than the installation of the iOS version. Here are the instructions: http://www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=9927&L=1 Please follow the instructions carefully! There is also a 30-days trial available to check compatibility with your device.
Got IC Pro installed without issue (just had to restart Cubase 7.5 after adding the SKI Remote device). On a Nexus 7 the app acts like the iPhone app - so no split screens which is a bit of a disappointment. I also don't appear to be able to drag/zoom the project window vertically, nor the mixer horizontally which would have been useful. That said, for the cost it's probably worth having just for the remote transport and cmd keys.
The Nexus 7 has a screen size of about 7". Up to about 8" the smartphone version is displayed. Above that, the tablet version is displayed.
Yes, we have markers on our feature request list. Basically we have all Cubase features on our Cubasis feature request list, but as we don't have unlimited resources we can only put a certain amount of new features on each release. :)
At the moment I can only say that the 1.8 update will be the long awaited automation feature-set. Our product strategy is to keep the updates coming to satisfy the needs of our user base while setting the bar of mobile music making higher with each update. We do have a plan (based on user requests) but that plan is flexible to be able to react to new technologies (Audiobus, Inter-App Audio, etc.) or user-reported problems.
When you first start Cubase and you get asked if Cubasis can use your microphone you must answer "yes", otherwise you won't be able to record anything or use your connected audio interface. If you tapped "no" by mistake, you can always change this in the settings app of your iPad. There go to Privacy -> Microphone and enable the Microphone with Cubasis.
Update works fine, the performance issues are resolved. Good work, thanks! I thought i read in the announcement for 1.7.2 that the current project importer for Cubase won't work anymore and will be updated. Now i can't find the post anymore and doubt if the post was real or just in my imagination. Hence my question is: Does the current project importer work with 1.7.2 ? Thanks for reply ;)
initially we thought we needed an update but after extensive QA testing everything worked as expected and we don't need an update for the importer.
Today we are happy to announce the immediate availability of the latest major update to our entry-level music production system, Cubase Elements 7! Here is an excerpt from the new features list:

Head over to http://www.steinberg.net to get the full picture and all the details!
On our official YouTube channel you will find over 2 hours of video tutorials to get you started.
The update is now available as boxed version at your local dealer and as download version through the Steinberg Online Shop.
The update price is 49.99 euros from Cubase Elements 6. Upgrade prices are 39.99 euros from Cubase AI 6/7 and 49.99 euros from Cubase LE 6/7. These prices include German VAT.
The problem with the sustain pedal will be definitely fixed on the next 1.8 update. While we can't disclose our exact release dates I can assure you that I have seen a working beta version and it looks great! The 1.8 update will be amazing and it will make Cubasis an even more powerful tool. This update will be available in May. Could you please elaborate more on the quantizing issue?
(EDIT: The update is going to be available in May!)
We decided to support only 44.1kHz with IAA as many third party apps had problems supporting 96kHz and caused many problems during our tests. We will reconsider supporting 96kHz with IAA at a later stage when hopefully most apps can cope with 96kHz.
Will the automation include tempo and time signature changes?
Cubasis 1.8 will include automation. This will lay some technical grounds for tempo and time signature (to be tackled on another update in the future). Time-stretch and pitch-shifting are also on the waiting list in order that the music follows tempo changes.
I explained on this post why it is not possible to change the behaviour of the undo in near future and offered a refund: http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=56596#p347263
You later claimed to have gotten a refund for Cubasis: http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=59875&p=360780#p360780
Why are you still here? I don't know what we can do to help you now. Now you don't own the app anymore and are still writing offensive stuff which makes me close this thread.
Apps are created in incremental steps. And since the launch of Cubasis 1.0 we have been working hard to give our users missing features free of charge with every update. With every update we evaluate what is being requested most (not only in this user forum) and implement those features – and we will continue making Cubasis the most intuitive DAW for iOS. Even the iPhone didn't support basic functionalities like copy/paste in the first iOS versions and that didn't make it a bad piece of hardware back then...
With pleasure we announce the availability of the 7.5.30 maintenance updates for Cubase 7.5 and Cubase Artist 7.5. These updates are a free download and fully supported (please see the bottom of this post for links).

CB-1890 Freezing an audio or MIDI track is no longer affected by the master volume level setting. CB-1869 Copying audio files between projects now works as expected. iOS 8 and Cubasis 1.8.1 The current Cubasis 1.8.1 version works as expected in iOS8. Audiobus is the only thing that does not work if you have Cubasis 1.8.1 with the iOS8 update. But as written above, the Cubasis 1.8.2 update solves this.
Hi, We have investigated the possibilities of porting Cubasis to Android and identified some essential problems (such as high latency) that makes it impossible to introduce a true real-time audio engine to Android. We will be monitoring the operating system for improvements until we identify that the problems have been cleared.
