Re: Sample Editor "Half-Level Axis"....

Well, In the open Sample Editor when I right click over the sample (wave) it's at the bottom of the list -- In Preferences/Editing/Tools "Pop-up toolbox on Right Click" is off = no tick

I noticed it while searching for the now non existent grid for Free Warp.

Re: Working with Automation. can it be fast as in PT?

A couple of things which will speed this process up.

- Open your automation panel and under settings make sure reveal parameter on write and show waveform data on tracks is enabled. This means that any parameter that is written will be revealed in automation lanes without having to search through and you can also see your waveform data underneath the automation.

- If you want to "draw" a quick volume change over the section you can use the line tool rather than the pencil tool which will create the 4 automation points.

- You can quickly use the info line to set automation data. When entering numbers you can either use enter for relative change or ctrl + enter for absolute change. This makes it very easy for example to rubber band some automation points and either adjust them relative to each other or set them all to a specific value.

Re: New control surface for Cubase..? 8...? Please..?

I like the Steinberg CMC-CH controllers, I have all of them (including 4x FD's in their dedicated case), but I understand that some people can't stand the feel of the FD modules because they're used to traditional faders (it actually doesn't take long to get used to the touch faders. Your mileage may vary, of course...)

Behringer has a brand new controller called X-TOUCH , which is way better than the old BCF2000. Better construction, better precision and no more motor noise. Also way better MIDI implementation (no more headaches to configure it as you wish...) Very reasonable price. Tried it at NAMM earlier this year, very good response, seems pretty solid. If I weren't very satisfied with my FD's (I actually like touch faders, they have several important advantages IMHO) and the other CMC-CH's, I would seriously consider it.

Re: Cursor flickering & Auto Scroll jerky

Here's a link to a discussion on the matter. In the very first post there are a video to show how/when/why? it happens

http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=195&t=54159&hilit=flickering

Please read through, but here are the link directly to Steinberg's Ed Doll's answer:

Hope that helps (just don't buy a new video card yet) :)

Iro: Track Color Pack for Cubase

http://seyoum.net/pictures/Logo.jpg

Hi everyone.

This is a neat little color pack I made for Cubase 7.5. For me, the default colors were not enough as I tend to have a lot of tracks, often with the same instruments, but with variations. It takes a considerable long time to make a set of new colors so I thought I would share it with you guys so you don't need to do this yourself. Am I not grateful? :D

http://dawlab.net/pictures/Iro.jpg

The pack consists of 8 different main colors with 8 additional shades of each color. 64 colors in total!
Once you install the colors I suggest you do not tamper too much with the intensity/brightness as this can cause some of the colors to look alike. Yes, I did this myself and had to redo everything.

Please see the link to my blog for installation: http://www.dawlab.net/2014/04/26/iro-2-0/

I do not have the privilege to test this on a mac or different versions of Cubase. If you are able to successfully apply these colors on another system please share how you did it.

Hope you enjoy it!

Re: Mediabay - happy with the order of listings..?

"Agreed, but only if there is no 2 - 9 available, yes..?"

No, anything with a "1" in same column will be listed first.
Then anything with "2".
Same thing as it would be a letter "a" is before "b" etc.
A shorter string is considered lower value - so 10 come after one - unless right adjusted.

See each string as x columns of letters, and rows of strings like that, each column get sorted from left to right.

So you can affect the sort order with how you name things.

When you allow both letters and numbers in a string - I don't think we will see numbered ordering, since in most cases it's impossible. If ending with numbers it would be possible to handle that and insert fills to rightadjust it.

So if you name stuff with ending numbers - just do it like 001, 002 and similar. Then it will sort like you want.

Myself I would love to naming templates for just about everything. You know with placeholders "NNNNNNNNNN" for 10 position name, "HHMMSS" for timestamp etc. "000" could be number always three positions, with leading zeros. This for audio files, projects files and anything really.

In Reaper you have this ability.
