How to report a problem with Cubase

Hi all,

to report an issue with Cubase, please start a new topic in the Cubase 7 | Cubase Artist 7 ‹ Issues ‹ Issue Reports forum . If an issue is confirmed, applies to the below mentioned report rules and is logged by the Steinberg internal defect tracking system, we will move the posting in the Cubase 7 | Cubase Artist 7 ‹ Issues ‹ Collected Issues forum .

In order to make the issue subforums better manageable, please follow these easy rules:

1. Before you post a new report, please use the search function to look out for an already existing issue report. Maybe there is already a solution to your issue - if so it is listed in the Cubase 7 | Cubase Artist 7 ‹ Issues ‹ Solved Issues forum . If you find an existing report with the same issue please reply to this thread and confirm the issue instead of creating a new report. Please also make sure to consult the Cubase version history which includes an issue & solutions subsection. If the issue you are confronted with is already listed there, it is not necessary to re-post.

2. One report should include one issue. If you want to report several issues, please create seperate posts for it.

3. The thread title should reflect a short description of the issue.

4. The post must include steps to reproduce the issue. Here is an example:

1. Create empty project
2. Add an audio track
3. Arm "record-enable" on track
4. Hit record button
-> Result = crash
5. The report must include detailed information about your system, OS, Cubase version used and a listing of any 3rd party plug-in involved.

6. If not mentioned specifically, reports listed here are valid for both Cubase 7 / Cubase Artist 7 and / or operating systems like MAC OS X / PC Windows.

Please note:
Moderators will look up the issue reports forum in cycles but not on a daily basis and merge reports that do belong together or move reports if they are confirmed or solved. Please avoid extensive usage of "bumping" and putting multiple issues into one topic, it is hardly manageable to respond to such topics then. The issue should be ideally confirmed by other forum members to exclude a single system glitch.

Update: Issues that are posted into the Cubase 7 General forum instead of the dedicated Issues Report forum or issues not complying to the reporting rules, are moved to the Cubase 7 | Cubase Artist 7 ‹ Issues ‹ Misc forum forum .

Thanks for choosing Cubase!

Re: Cubase 7.5 Instrument Rack 2.0 - existing projects?

ptbbos wrote:Has there been any commentary yet on how the updated instrument rack will behave with existing projects?

Projects will behave the same. Rack Instruments show up as such in the Rack. For existing Instruments Tracks you will be able to enable additional Outputs.

• When opening a project, locked tempo / signature tracks are now restored correctly.

• (OS X 10.9): Using VST Connect no longer leads to an unsreponsive state of the application.
• Using REVerence (or Roomworks) and bypassing it, then moving to a section in the project without audio and disabling bypass for REVerence no longer leads to unwanted playback of a buffered reverb tail.

Audio
• Emptying trash in the Audio Pool now works without issues.

MIDI
• Playing back a MIDI track containing lyrics events to an external MIDI device no longer leads to an unresponsive state of the application.
• Dragging an event up/down with the mouse in the Key Editor always leads to accurate audio preview.

• Printing from the Score Editor in Cubase Artist / Elements / AI and LE now works as expected.
• Toggling between the vertical and the horizontal position of a symbol palette in the Score Editor no longer leads to an unresponsive state of the application.
• Activating "Animate Note Cursor" in the Score Editor preferences no longer leads to an invisible note tool without preview capability.

Hardware
• When using an MR816 the hardware rack is always available from the drop down list.
• Changing the Digital I/O mode setting of MR 816 in the Control Panel or Audio Hardware Setup no longer renders the application unreliable.

Cubase 7.5 and Cubase Artist 7.5 update released

Dear Cubase Users,

we are happy to announce the immediate availability of Cubase 7.5 and Cubase Artist 7.5!

The update to version 7.5 provide TrackVersions playlists for audio, MIDI and instrument tracks as well as chord, tempo and signature tracks, letting you create and toggle between different versions of a track's events and lanes. Track visibility management helps you to keep the Project window clutter free, with additional View Agents and sync mode with the MixConsole. Enhanced editing capabilities include automatic transient detection. Other new features that emphasize the focus on workflow optimization are the new re-record mode for instant record restart, load and save of Track Quick Control assignments, MIDI editing functionality in the Score Editor plus the redesigned VST Instrument Rack with new VST Quick Controls and in perfect sync with the instruments tracks.

Version 7.5 also features the Groove Agent SE 4 drum sampler, with intricate editing functionality, pattern playback and in fresh new look. Version 2 of HALion Sonic SE now includes the new Trip virtual analog arp synthesizer plus eight new effects. The EDM Toolbox with dozens of MIDI loops, laid out in 30 construction kits provides added value to many of the powerful instruments included in 7.5. In addition the update brings three new effects to the table: LoopMash FX with tape-stops, stutters and others, the REVelation algorithmic reverb and the Magneto 2 tape saturator. The remote recording software, VST Connect SE 2, is exclusively available in Cubase 7.5, now with MIDI recording capability.

The Cubase 7.5 update is available from Steinberg dealers worldwide as a boxed version and in the Steinberg Online Shop as a download version. While the boxed update includes 3.5 GB content and requires a 500 MB application installer download, the download update version available through the Steinberg Online Shop requires the download of the content as well as the application installer (4 GB download).

The Cubase Artist 7.5 update is available through the Steinberg Online Shop as a 4 GB download only.

Customers who have activated previous Cubase 7 and Cubase Artist 7 versions since October 15, 2013, are eligible for a free, downloadable Grace Period update to version 7.5.

More information is available here .

Cubase VST Song import in Cubase 7: a solution

Dear Cubase customers,

Cubase 4, 5, 6 and also 7 do not support the import of Cubase VST songs and projects anymore. In order to import your older Cubase VST projects and songs, you can install Cubase SX3 / SL3 / SE3, which are available as a download here:

Cubase SX 3
Cubase SL 3
Cubase SE 3

Cubase SX3 / SL3 / SE3 can be run with your current Cubase 7 / Cubase Artist 7 license and allows you to import VST projects, save them in the new *.cpr format and open them in Cubase 7 series. These are not officially supported under current Windows OS but should install and run just fine under Windows Vista / 7 / 8.

Please note that Cubase SX3 / SL3 / SE3 are PPC based versions and the latest Mac OS to run PPC applications is OS X 10.6. For Mac installations please be sure to install the eLicenser Control Center for Mac OS X 10.5 (PowerPC and Intel based), 10.6 and 10.7, which can be downloaded here.
