One thing I do is have the corresponding audio track available in the inspector for each VEPro instrument. This way, when I'm working on a midi track I have all the inserts, sends etc. right there in the inspector. I also create 2 inspector views, one with midi controls and one with audio controls and assign each to a workspace and a key command( workspaces didn't remember inspector views in 7.5 a great new feature of 8), very quick to adjust any midi/audio track.
Thanks for your response, it seems really interesting !
But I don't understand everything. Could you explain precisely how you access both MIDI and "Audio track" (you mean output of a vsti, right ?) in the same inspector ?
OK, in the inspector, make sure you have "instrument" available in the "visible items" column (access inspector edit via a tiny star in bottom left hand corner of inspector). You should see a tab in the inspector saying Vienna Ens... (or whatever VSTi you're using). Under that is an "output selector, select which individual output in VEPro corresponds and there you go. Now you can Cntl/click on the inserts, sends, fader etc. to have them all show up in the inspector. Now you can create a workspace with that view and then create a sepatate vie for midi.
I've uploaded two workspace screeenshots to demonstrate. I actually do a lot of mixing directly from the Inspector (including automation).
