I actually had this very same problem at first. It was weird when my HD600’s sounded better from my smartphone with more bass. Then I noticed my INPUT/DAW was in the halfway position and turning the knob all the way to the right (DAW) did the trick and now phones sound just heavenly. I felt a bit stupid!
Of course you need to adjust the mix again when you are recording something.
