BriHar:
The FX insert point you describe refers to the DSP FX i.e. Ch. Strip and Guitar Amps (shown near the bottom at the left hand side), in particular this is the Ins or lower insert location (applied to both Monitor and DAW outs) as described on page 19. A little below this and to the right you will see another FX Insert point which corresponds to the Mon or middle position (applied only to the Monitor outs).
This can be confusing. The 6 outs refer to outs of the UR to the DAW and the 10 ins are from the DAW to the UR - not the other way around which might be assumed at first. The 6 outs are shown at the top right of the schematic. 6 of the 10 outs connect to the mix busses and 7 and 8 feed the reverb bus. The remaining 9 and 10 can be selected for the S/PDIF out (the wrongly labelled DAW OUT 1&2 in the routing dialog).
The 6 outs then correspond basically to the 6 physical UR inputs Channels 1&2 (Mic/Line/Hi-Z), Channels 3&4 (Line Inputs) and the S/PDIF L&R. The Schematic can also be a bit confusing in this regard as they are shown in single line representation whereas there are in fact 2 of each - this is an oversimplification done to keep the diagram uncluttered but can be confusing for the average person.
Hope that helps.
Completely, thanks so much. So unintuitive (the labeling of the diagram), as the usual descriptions I’ve seen of interfaces with “X in/Y out” have a completely different meaning, referring to the physical ports.
