Thanx for the Mavericks patch, but...

Postby Svenne » Sat Nov 23, 2013 9:12 pm

had it been possible to install it, it would have been even better.

I'm stuck at the "Installation Type" screen. The "Install" button remains greyed out!

Aloha S,

Rare prob but could be corruption during download.
One approach:
1-Try re-downloading
2-Try re-installing.

As I said this is rare but worth a shot.

Sorry.

In any event, it was a shot in the dark.
I'm sure you have tried it but maybe 'repair disk permissions'?

Hope you get it sorted.

Nope, made no difference either. I didn't expect it to either. This doesn't sound like a permissions problem to me.

However, I might have found another cause. Digging into the description of the patch, I found this:
Please note that Cubase Elements/AI/LE 7.0.6, WaveLab 8.0.3 and WaveLab Elements 8.0.3 and higher already contain this update and no further action is required.

I do have WLE 8 installed. Does the patch installed with WLE work for Cubase 7.0.6 aswell. Is this the reason why the "Install" button is greyed out? That the patch is already installed (with WLE)?

If I am correct in my assumption, I would recommend that Steinberg "fix" the installer. Most installers informs the user of why an item can't be installed. Having the installer just sit there, saying or doing nothing, is very unhelpful.

Same issues here. Un-installed/reinstalled Cubase 7 & the new 7.06 update. I can only open C7 in 32 but mode and no VST driver is showing up for my 22vsl. 64-but crashes every time on startup.

Very frustrated with all this. Seriously considering selling my license if there is not REAL fix by the end of the year.

Make sure you got the correct patch. Try this link:

Kinda hard to get the wrong patch, isn't it, seeing that there is only one?

An official response, whether or not I am correct in my assumptions above, would be appreciated.

Hello,

it appears that you have the patch already installed.

We researched this and could only reproduce the missing Install button when the patch is there already.

This can be verified checking here:

Right click on the Cubase 7 icon
Select "Show Package Content" and open the Contents -> Components folder
The file coreaudio2asio.bundle needs to be version 2.2.7.16

This morning I replied to the e-mail forwarded by the Swedish Support two days ago.

Kind regards,

Thanks for your reply Pablo

EDIT:
I have cracked the problem. I have organized my applications in sub-folders in the Applications folder. Because I wasn't aware that the patch was stored in the application itself (I was under the impression that it was some sort of driver, stored in the System or Library folders), I forgot to move it to the top level of the Applications folder. When I did the installer worked perfectly.

So, I guess, it was operator error this time. My apologies.

(X-post, apologies)

Even with the ASIO patch just recently released, Cubase is still very dodgy on Mavericks for me.

I often get a crash upon starting Cubase, sometimes several launches of Cubase in a row, then 2nd or 3rd launch it "sticks" and Cubase stays running.

The video service frequently stops functioning - this almost never happened before the Mavericks upgrade.
