I recently set up a portable workstation that consists of the following:
Lenovo W540 on their Ultradock (170Watt) with NVidia K2100M graphics, RME UCX, and a Dell 2007WFP is the 2nd monitor (DVI) . Windows 8.1 and Cubase 7.5.30
The Project and Mixer 2 (audio) and Mixer 3 (VST plugins -Instruments, Lexicon Reverbs, Midi) are on the main W540 screen accessed via ctrl-tab.
The Main Mixer (1) has my Groups, Inputs, Outputs, Control Room etc. and is displayed on the 2nd monitor (Dell) in Full Screen mode. It all works very efficiently EXCEPT:
When I set the screen resolution of the W540 to its recommended 2880 x 1620 and the Dell to its recommended 1680 x 1050 the Mixer 1 in Full Screen mode on the Dell stops functioning correctly however:
When I set the screen resolution of the W540 down to 2048 x 1152 (or lower) and keep the Dell to its recommended 1680 x 1050 the Mixer 1 in Full Screen mode on the Dell functioning correctly.
Not the end of the world but I am perplexed as to why this happens. The visibility of a little more real estate in the 2880 x 1620 screen resolution on the W540 monitor would be nice.
