Any chance of a laymans appraisal of why this is advantageous over IAA?
I would assume IAA would be natively more intuitive to use.

it sure is imo but unfortunately there are still some nasty bugs and lack of any good documentation for developer.Things that Apple has to sort out and this can take some time as we all know...

Anyway,using the best of both worlds is my recommendation.
