Mauri, I agree with you to a 100%. The reels spinning was cool the first time (or for showing clients - one time only).
But it was a waste of space, have no functional purpose, and a bit annoying when opening more instances.

And to the point: Yes, Slate Digital is a company that listens more to its customers than the most.
