Sequel Sound Set Licensing and eLicenser

Postby rkabz54 » Fri Oct 04, 2013 2:18 pm

I have both Cubase 7 and (recently) Sequel 3 and I have also purchased some additional sound sets for Sequel. It all works OK, no problem.

But I have two eLicensers, one with Sequel 3 and additional sound sets and another for Cubase 7 and additional instrument sounds. I tend to run Cubase on one PC and Sequel on another. If I wan to use the Sequel sound sets in Cubase I have to plug in my Sequel eLicenser into the same (Cubase) PC to use the sound sets. As a validated user, why could I not have the sound set licenses loaded onto both eLicensers? That would be nice and convenient for my situation and configuration, to be able to run Sequel and Cubase alongside each other and use the same sound sets in both at the same time. Or is this seen as a licensing violation ?????? I guess it's an interesting issue, since after purchasing the sound set license/s I am free to use the sounds in Sequel and Cubase to produce music royalty free.....;). For me, this convenience would save wear and tear on the eLicenser as I am not having to plug/unplug same regularly. Being an Electronics Engineer by vocation, I know this action (of plugging/unplugging) will eventually wear out the connectors on both the PC and eLicenser. I would like to avoid this. :ugeek:

Steinberg's official stance....

Hey,
I understand your dilemma however the way the USB eLicensers work is you pay for a single license that can be used on multiple machines. To have multiple licenses you need multiple copies of the software.. One option could be moving all the licenses onto one of the USB eLicenses that you can then move between both machines.. Once it has been worn you could transfer the licenses to the blank USB eLicense..

Unfortunately if you are using the software on multiple machines the moving of the license and pluggin and unplugging is unavoidable
