russellc101:
Hi Musicullum, contrary to what you’ve said above, Steinberg have now reported to me that they’ve found a bug which currently prevents the HD files from being downloaded (which is what I’ve been saying all along).
And the Cubase session and VST Connect plugin must also be kept active whilst the downloading is taking place, which would mean that the engineer can’t switch to a different Cubase project (and the performer must keep their computer online with the VST performer app running as well). Also the video remains active during the upload / download, which means that the bandwidth is reduced, making the download very much slower than it would be, for example by using an ftp server instead.
So it seems that the paint is still wet on “VST Connect Pro” - as there are still some major bugs and issues to be ironed out, hopefully in future releases. I hope that Steinberg set about resolving all of these issues as quickly as possible, as otherwise it appears to be a useful product.
I already thanked you and suggested myself:
musicullum:
It looks like we found something, thanks for your help. We’ll report on this soon.
As for downloading options, we will consider your suggestions for the next version. One option will probably be to disable audio and video when “Get HD Files” is started, which would make it the fastest possible transfer option. Also possibly we could offer to “Get HD files” from a specific local directory so you can transfer files from the Performers’ machine using any preferred method as you suggested.
Thanks for your cooperation. The problem appears only with single mode, using multi, HD files work just fine.
Considering this, and that we have found and fixed one bug which only shows up under certain circumstances, it’s a bit of a surprise to me that you are still trying to present this in a state of having “major bugs and issues”. A bug has been confirmed and fixed, you can continue to work and even get all your previous files transferred, and your considerations have been acknowledged, thanked for, and put on the list. What else is it that we can do to make you as happy as many other VST Connect users?
