How do I create a common meter (C) with a quarter pickup?
Selecting the pickup option reinserts 4/4 as meter display
If you type “Shift-M” to bring up the time signature popover, and then type “c,1” for common time with one quarter-note pick-up, it should do what you’re after.

¢ works as a shortcut for cut common time.
Or “cutc” if you would prefer not to have to make the various physical contortions to invoke the ¢ character (although it’s Alt-4 on a UK Mac keyboard and Alt-0162 on Windows)
