Thanks for the encouragement and the step by step instructions, but unfortunately windows is still opening the 32 bit version by default even when I point it to the 64 bit version folder. I would prefer not to disable the 32 bit version which can be useful from time to time, but it’s a real time waster when I double click on the filename and get all these warnings about plugins that aren’t found due to the conflict between the 32 bit and 64 bit programs.
I followed your steps and I had done exactly that the first time and the second time, but I did it again just to make sure I was pointing to the correct folder and it still opens the 32 bit version by default when I double click on a cubase file.
I am still looking for a solution.
