I think you are misunderstanding!
Your recorded drum levels are fine.
Just lower all the faders from the drum channels (playback) Lower them by 6 to 12dB
Or lower the master fader, you cannot clip the internal summing bus in cubase, so lowering the master fader is a valid technique.
