I’m hopeful that Apple continues to offer FW800 on the MBP for a few more years. It appears to be already gone on the new MacPro desktop.
Since I started this thread I’ve been doing some research on Thunderbolt hubs. The only ones available seem expensive - not to mention that a TB cable alone costs nearly $50.
Hopefully someone will come out with a TB hub that addresses the legacy connectors (FW, eSATA, DVI, HDMI) rather than wasting money on more USB3 connections.
Here’s another questions for those who are up to speed with the new USB protocol:
Does plugging a USB2 device into a shared USB3 port hobble the entire port down to USB2 speed like when we plug FW400 item into a FW800 port?
