View Shared Copy Status Inside MIDI Editor

Postby suntower » Mon Dec 09, 2013 12:01 am

Maybe this is already possible and I just don't see it?

I'd like a little indicator in the MIDI Key Editor that clearly tells me that I'm editing a Shared Copy. Too often, I'll do some laborious editing on an Event only to close the editor and realise I've screwed with a Shared copy and ruined 31 other places in the piece.

(Of course, I'd also like -all- the current event tools to convert a shared copy to a real copy, split events, etc. -inside- the editor, but that's another Annual Request)

That's when viewing the event in the Project. I'm talking about -inside- the Key Editor.

Actually, better still, would be if there was an 'overview' on top of the Key Editor, similar to Wavelab, where you could access all the 'Event' features -while- editing inside Key Editor.

The problem, of course, is Window Management. With the current 'On Top' bugs and lack of docking, you gotta keep moving back and forth between Editor and Project too much. Some way should be found to see it all at a glance.

+1

Cubase really needs 'docking' editors, plus an option to use like that, because there'll always be some people prefering the old way.

better would be a pop up when you return to project windows
You edited a shared copies do you want
1- keep the share
2-convert to real copy
3-cancel

the audio editor has already a similar popup

An excellent point. As you say, that would be consistent with audio.

But I'd also like an indicator to let me know -ahead- of time. I dunno if there is one in the audio editor, but if not there should be one there too.
