Cubase is good enough but it lacks a few handy plugins, that's why i ask for these few essentials, Steinberg can do it, they have the expertise, i don't think it's very hard for them to give us these.

http://www.sonicacademy.com/kick ,only 30€/40$,or you can create your kicks with retrologue
for the "metallic hi hat", you can create your own simply with a white noise
and for the claps, layers + the mono to stereo plugin or something like that.

I would rather get this from a dedicated drum-creating-software-company, whatever you call them.

Think about it. When we go shopping we go to different stores based on speciality. The Dollar store is good for some things not everything!

edit: You want macros. The ability is already there, you need them to tie it together, by letting you freely use quick controls, or providing a more modular environment. But, that's kinda what Halion is *sigh*

How could I make music without dedicated clap plugins?

I'm reminded of a possibly apocryphal story by Dave Stewart.

When the Eurythmics were recording 'Sweet Dreams' he desperately wanted a LinnDrum for the famous backbeat 'whap', could not afford one, so went to a nearby church and recorded sounds of whacking things with a leather paddle. Which seems entirely plausible and also a whole lot of fun.

I'd rather not have "the clap" included with Cubase.

All kidding aside, I do get frustrated with the concept that DAWs have to have 1 each of the best version of every combination of every type of plugin or the DAW is somehow flawed. DAWS have enough flaws of their own without tossing irrelevant side tracks into the equation
