"Please switch to an Aero theme" on Win 7 (discussion)

Not liking the look of aero - fair enough - but the rest of your post is nonsense. If you have problems running aero then there is a driver issue somewhere on your system. Turning off aero forces windows to burn CPU building the screen in system memory and then copy that to the graphics subsystem - resource hungry and completely pointless. I suggest you try reinstalling DirectX and upgrade to the latest graphics drivers and then try aero again (windows desktop experience component must be installed) you may not like aero - but with it functioning correctly your Cubase system WILL use less resources and run smoother. I am a computer programmer by profession so take some advice and fix your system rather than disabling native hardware acceleration - which is a rather retrograde step - the make and model of your graphics card/onboard chip is irrelevant as long as it’s not a Direct x8 antique then you meet all the requirements for aero, the screen(s) will be handled in hardware with DWM writes straight to the graphic subsystems zBuffers.
