This is a workflow killer and a pointless change from C5 imo.
The following should recreate the original event as long as nothing has been moved, neat and tidy!
- Start with an audio event on a track.
- Cut it somewhere and drag the start of the second or the end of the old to create a gap (without moving the events)
- Glue tool->click events
