Hi All, My nephew is looking to buy a laptop to run Cubase Elements, he is on a tight budget and the laptop spec he is looking at below. Oh he has to use a laptop
ASUS X551MAV
Celeron N2840
4gb Ram
1TB HDD
He will only be running what instruments come with elements I think, and a focusrite scarlet usb audio interface and only occasional use for small arrangements ie software drums ,bass, guitar ,vocals, keys etc
My main concern is the Celeron N2840 will be too much on the low spec side, what do you all think ?
I would suggest at least an i5 and 8 GB of RAM. I don’t want to start an Intel vs. AMD war, but my personal experience tells me the Intel chip would be better for his needs.
Hi - I stumbled across this post but thought it might be worth mentioning that we’ve seen a few issues with Celeron based laptops, specifically that they tend to struggle to provide the full amount of power over USB, meaning that some bus-powered interfaces (such as the Solo, 2i2 and 2i4 in the Scarlett range) will sometimes not be able to draw sufficient power from the laptop and therefore disconnect/re-connect frequently.
