A Song Destroyed...

A Song Destroyed...

Postby KDEF2004 » Wed Oct 16, 2013 8:08 pm

So I have this one song, that fails to load. I tried C5,C6, and C7.01,02,03. It was created in C7.04. C7.05 or .06 fails as well.
I've re-installed a fresh system and everything is working fine. I uploaded a pic and the song in question. Maybe someone might know what is going on, or maybe it's over for that song...

I've tried to load your file into my Cubase 7.06 64 bit, but I get the same fail message about it having been created in a Cubase 1.xxx version.

Ask the user "NWP" as they claim to use it professionally on a daily basis in both an engineering and song production capacity

Will not load for me either but If you look at it in notepad it does say it is version 7.0.4 and for Win64. Sounds like it is corrupted although the header part looks ok. If I had time I would try loading it in a hex editor to see if there is anything obviously corrupt.

Got the same error message here. Mucked about with the header in a hex editor... copying header from another file into yours. (Didn't really know what I was doing!) Same error message except now it said ' was created with Cubase 7.0.4' instead of Cubase1.

Maybe someone from Steinberg could take a look for you and figure it out.

ps. Do you have any .bak files in yr folder to try?

Thanks for trying it. The funny thing is, I have three backup folders on different hard drives and they all give me the same error. The part that amazes me is, there's no .bak files in any of the folders. Talk about bad luck...

That's an error, surely - there was no Cubase version 7 in 2003....

Try copying the file and renaming it.. Yes.. I know it sounds stupid but in the past when projects have corrupted this has worked for me... Hope you get it sorted.

The error message is not accurate when it says what version created the file. This file is missing data, or has corrupted sections.

someone could try pasting the header part from another project into this corrupt one, it may allow it to be opened to some degree
