Cubase 7.0.6 suddenly crashing - more than 1 proj't affected

Hi there;

I’ve been using Cubase since VST 3.5 and have never found Cubase - in any of its iterations - to be unstable.

Suddenly, I’m getting crashing on more than one project, and other curious behaviour. I have tried re-installing Cubase.

Crash dumps reproduced below.

Yesterday - a bunch of midi tracks all going through HalionOne. I activated an insert on an audio input and produced a crash.

A couple of days prior - same project as #2 above - trying to get retrologue synth to work. At first, it couldn’t find Retrologue - or the name would come up but the synth wouldn’t load. Then I opened Retrologue up in another project to make sure it worked, and it did. I went back to this project, loaded it up again and it worked… for a bit… then crashed.

A day or so before all this, I had some other similar crashing issues. I thought I had traced it down to a plugin that had started to misbehave (a ping-pong delay, I think…). I got the track back up and going by re-naming the VST plugin folder, starting the project, turning off the plugin, closing cubase, reverting the VST plugin folder to its original name, and then re-launching cubase. After a bit of things like that was when I re-installed cubase.

When I loaded up the debug files, I was hoping to find something a little more concrete than what I have. Does anyone see anything here that can help me?

Thanks!
Chris

Chris!

Its about your VST3 plugins has gone corrupted in your system. According to the bug files the internal “checksum” doesn’t add up make you crash.

*** WARNING: Unable to verify checksum for Cubase Plug-in Set.vst3
*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for Cubase Plug-in Set.vst3 -

I would recommend you uninstall Cubase 7 and reinstall it again to solve the problems.

Also don’t use the x32bit build of Cubase 7 IF you use Windows 7 x64. Use the native x64bit version “the real version” of Cubase 7 x64 instead. There are only benefits with x64bit version. 99.9998 % of all plugins today are in x64bit.

Best Regards
Freddie

Hi Freddie;

Thanks for your reply. I have tried re-installing Cubase. Unfortunately, I’m not running 64-bit Windows, or I would certainly do that, which would allow me to take advantage of another couple of gigs of RAM I have hanging around.

From the three dumps I have posted, yes, one of them references the plug-in set. Another references the synth-engine, and the first one references the VST Connect PRO plugin, specifically.

Would it be helpful to re-install it yet again, or might there be something else that I’m not seeing?

Chris

Again!

Working with the same file as described in crash #1 and #2. Trying to connect to another computer (via LAN) using VST Connect PRO. I got an error that there was a sample rate mismatch and that I either had to adjust the performer’s sample rate to 44100 or mine to 48000 (given that the “performer” was a laptop upstairs using the generic low-latency asio driver, there seems to be no mechanism for changing that sample rate).

I changed my sample rate to 48000 and got the following:

This happened three times - each time when changing the sample rate. Once, it happened changing it from 48000 to 44100.

If anyone can make any sense of this, I’d be grateful.

Thanks!
