Technologie der 4. Generation
Die Audio- und Synthese-Engine von HALion Sonic basiert auf Steinbergs bahnbrechendem VST 3 Sampler HALion 4, der sich derzeit in der Entwicklung befindet. Vier verschiedene Modi garantieren eine phänomenale Klangvielfalt: Leistungsstarkes Disk-Streaming Sample Playback für atemberaubend realistische Nachbildungen echter Instrumente − inklusive aller Spielweisen; der Sliced-Loop Modus für kreatives Arbeiten mit Loops und Beats; ein spezieller Drum Modus für die Produktion von Schlagzeugspuren in höchster Studioqualität sowie eine komplett ausgestattete virtuell analoge Synthese-Engine − für die volle Bandbreite synthetischer Sounds und anspruchsvolle Klangexperimente.
Alle vier Modi beinhalten einzigartige Morphing-Filter: Bis zu vier der 24 frei wählbaren Filtercharakteristiken lassen sich stufenlos ineinander überblenden. Die praktisch unbegrenzte Polyphonie bietet genug Spielraum, um das gesamte Multi Rack mit bis zu 16 Klangprogrammen voll auszunutzen. Jedes Programm besteht aus bis zu vier komplexen Sounds und einem individuellen Effekt Rack mit vier Insert-Slots. 16 verschiedene Effekttypen stehen zur Verfügung, darunter der herausragende Faltungshall REVerence und eine außergewöhnliche Rotationslautsprecher-Emulation.

Mit über 1000 Sound-Presets und rund 13 GB speziell aufgenommenen Samples, bietet HALion Sonic eine Sound-Library, die hinsichtlich ihrer Qualität und Vielseitigkeit einzigartig ist. Das Sounddesigner Team, das auch schon für Yamahas berühmte MOTIF Synthesizer Serie hervorragende Arbeit leistete, hat mit viel Liebe zum Detail eine Klangbibliothek erschaffen, die eine enorme Bandbreite von Styles und Sounds abdeckt. Hierzu gehören akustische Instrumente mit bis zu 18 Artikulationen pro Sound, legendäre Synthie-Klänge, angesagte Club-Sounds, atmosphärische Klanglandschaften, ultra-realistische Drum-Kits, aktuelle Hip Hop Loops und vieles mehr.
Alle Sounds mit mehreren Artikulationen unterstützen Steinbergs VST Expression Funktionen – für sensationell einfaches Arbeiten mit verschiedenen Spielweisen in Cubase. Zu der gigantischen Library gehören außerdem über 1500 Patterns für das FlexPhrase Modul, mit dem sich Beats, Arpeggios und komplexe musikalische Phrasen erstellen lassen. Und falls Sie doch irgendwann noch mehr Content möchten, unterstützt HALion Sonic auch Expansion Packs mit noch mehr kreativem Klangmaterial.

Aber auch im Live-Einsatz macht HALion Sonic eine gute Figur: Keyboard- oder Layer-Splits lassen sich ohne Aufwand schnell erzeugen. Verwenden Sie einen beliebigen MIDI Controller, um die acht Quick Controls live zu steuern oder schalten Sie einfach per Tastendruck auf ein anderes Multi-Setup für den nächsten Song um. Der spezielle Player Modus hilft Ihnen auf der Bühne dabei, das Wesentliche immer perfekt im Blick zu haben.

High string XXL with harmonics, fret noises, all on one channel! It'll put you right there in the Cabaret!The learning curve is gentle, very gentle, and it makes it easy to use. No need to understand waveforms, oscillators, all that, so non-techies should love this. I'm finding myself using this far more than most of my (many) synth plug-ins, as it is quicker, far, far quicker to put together a good sound. Been a blast. Wish I could've reported more bugs for Steinberg, but I can't fault good engineering! Incredible box of sounds.”

“I was paging through some of the sounds in stand-alone mode, and thought I'd try to assign the 8 MIDI sliders on my controller to the 8 control knobs and see if they were persistent. Turns out that they are — if I call up new sounds into a slot, the controller MIDI assignment stay active. I have been having a lot of fun on the percussion sounds - playing loops while adjusting filter settings live sounds like a lot of stuff i hear on the radio every day. I also tried this with motion based pads, and came up with some really evocative soundscapes. VERY nice job. … I don't think people often stop to appreciate that the work of putting a complicated technical product together is just as much of a passionate and creative enterprise as making music…”
