How to prepare for a good night of sleep. The thing that I found to be huge in helping me get to sleep was actually preparing for sleep. After I had brushed my teeth and got into my sleepwear, I would pick up a boring book or a story book, and read in a dull monotonous tone, to my self, with my mouth open. This way I would start yawning a lot, inducing drowsiness. Feeling drowsy and tired is key. You don't want to try to go to bed before you are feeling tired, or you might just end up lying there for hours or just not falling asleep at all. It's worth taking the 5-10 extra minutes to prepare for sleep.
