Disc Burn Issues

Post by Brain » Fri Dec 15, 2017 8:26 pm

I have been having problems with burning and Verify DVDs and CDs.
I am using WaveLab 8.5
I have 2 different drives
1. Asus DRW-24B1ST
2. Plextor DVDR PX-850SA

WaveLab spends 10+ minutes scanning preparing and burning a 700MB CD.
Then spends another 10+ minutes trying to verify the burn, but I get an error message every time.
Up until recently we have been using Tyo Udin Blanks. But I have been told they stopped making DVDs and CDs
But I don't feel like media would cause the scanning and burn delay.
And why do none of my verify's come back without error screens???

This is on a system that was stable and working for Years, with NO windows updates. (WIN-7, 32bit)

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brain

If nothing's changed and it happens in both drives and it was fine with Taiyo Yuden, I'd try any other CD brand than what you're currently using, to see if it's any different. 10 minutes of churning is crazy.

Long term, Mitsui MAM-A, or Falcon CD-R, are often suggested as good Taiyo Yuden replacements.

If it's not the CD media, you could do the following:

Make a Windows system restore point.

Download and reinstall or repair the Gear drivers that Wavelab uses:
http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php
(Or alternatively, if you don't want to download anything, go into Windows Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs, select the existing Gear driver, and select Repair.)

If that doesn't help, you could run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter in Windows Control Panel.
