Clip channel mapping

Post by Bruese » Sat May 30, 2015 8:47 am

Good morning,

we ran into the following problem: You setup a mixer configuration where you use a couple of 5.1 tracks. The mapping of these tracks is not to change. But you may, as we do, use multichannel SFX files that do not fit to the track channel layout. So, now I would like to change the channel layout of the clip to fit the track layout.
Anybody familiar with that problem and a usefull solution?
Have a nice one

As far as I understand, you want to change the track order/layout of a clip, right?
You can only do this by splitting the file into individual tracks.
Just add a couple of tracks that fit the layout of the clips you use.
It is -for example- pretty normal to have mono, stereo, quad 5.0 and 5.1 BG tracks in a project.
This also allows you to manage the different formats, in terms of routing to your different output formats.

Hi Fredo,
absolutly right. I want to change the channel order. I know there is a workaround in splitting the clip into single mono channels that can then be rearanged, but it would be much easier to do it in the clip itself and save it, I think you agree with me.

Have a nice one
