while I know he was not immensely popular but I’d always enjoyed listening to his baritone voice and vintage songs.

Sad news indeed, armed with only a guitar, a microphone and that ubiquitous hat, he opened my eyes a long time ago to the vast heritage of American music of the period before we called it blues. https://www.leonredbone.com/music

Not really correct because 'blues' originates from between the 1860 en 1900's. And it was called that a long time before Leon Redbone was even born. But God rest his soul! He's done his fair part!
