IC Speech

Post by TabSel » Fri Apr 18, 2014 12:10 pm

While you're experimenting with different control input like gestures, what about a "speech" recognition input?
Both Mac OS X and Windows offer standard speech regognition. While these can be used from "outside" cubase to translate speech to midi commands and control cubase via MIDI, having the possibility of it more closely integrated seems to be quite attractive, doesn't it?

Like "talkback" .... "Over"; "cycle on - precount two bars - record" ... "Stop - play"...

I like this idea.

It might even be easier to implement than hand gestures, especially if, during installation, we could run through and speak a whole range of commands and have them recorded and saved somewhere so that recognition would be easy after that. Perhaps this could also be used to implement passwords for different users.

Wouldn't the monitoring of your tracks get in the way of voice recognition ?

We all know voice recognition is flaky at the best of times and for it to understand your commands it has to be a noise free back ground ,so potentially you would have to mute your project to use a IC speech command ;-)
