Nvidia GTX 1060 in Cubase 8.5 - Does it still cause audio spikes?

Hi all,

A question to those of you with the Nivida GTX 1060 graphics card.

I have the opportunity of picking up a new PC at a very reasonable price but just wanted to check how you were getting on with this graphics card in Cubase 8.5 and 9. The reason I ask, is that a lot of people were getting bad audio spikes a little while back, and I remember someone tracing this issue back to this particular card….so I just wondered if things were any better now.
(I did search, but there was nothing recent mentioning the problem).

If not, there will be an opportunity to have the 1070 instead, but that will definitely be overkill for me.

It might be worth mentioning that the PC will be used for graphic and video projects related to music too, which is why I’m not just looking at a basic card. I use Komplete 11 Ultimate, Heavyocity, Sonniccouture and U-HE synths for most of my sounds.

The spec of the PC is as follows, and my audio interface is a Focusrite Scarlett.

  • 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8700 6-Core Processor (12M Cache, up to 4.6 GHz)
  • Chipset Z370
  • Windows 10 Home (64Bit)
  • 16GB DDR4 Ram (2666MHz) - upgradable to 64GB
  • 256GB M.2 PCIe x4 SSD for OS
  • 500GB SSD for Samples
  • 2TB (7200 rpm) HDD For projects
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory

Any thoughts would be great!
Thanks for reading!
