+1. Redrawing convex, concave, linear curves with points is slow and inaccurate. Some popular music styles (e.g. Dubstep and all it's subgenres) pretty much require the ability to easily create controller/automation data in synth envelope-like shapes. This is slow and tedious without splines.

Another +1. Ableton's ability to scale and manipulate curves is very smooth.

Actually, every person in the Steinberg marketing department should be made to watch the videos. The development would then take care of itself. :D

I stand corrected. Clearly that is the better audience.

Yes Steinberg every other DAW has this. The modulation lanes are still so primitive. We need a easy way to click 1 point and another and your done. Also to go with this we need region based automation like clip automation in Ableton.

also-- make the curves not a series of discrete values (even though behind the scenes that's what they are), but parametric. so you can precisely design LFO shapes of exact frequencies and amplitudes, and mathematically morph and modulate them. just look at FL Studio and copy what they are doing. they are the only ones doing this thing right in my opinion.

Skipping 8.5, and really, bezier curves and a fully configurable docking system that includes the mixer and transport is about the only thing that I would consider upgrading for at this point.
